With virtually no major landmasses above the surface
of ch'Vall's oceans, classification of climate must be limited to
the hydrosphere. Salinity, luminescence, and pressure are all within
the standard parameters for a water-based M-class environment. Cold-water
currents from the abyssal regions have formed into megacurrents typically
seen in gas-based atmospheres as jet streams. These currents form
hydrosphere "weather" by distributing water of different temperatures
throughout the globe.
Details
In Romulan, ch'Vall means "of the ocean," or "of water." This name
is appropriate.Ch'Vall is a true water world. Enough water has accumulated
that the planetary oceans cover nearly every square centimeter of this
planet. Some minor volcanic chimneys have broken the surface, and polar
ice provides some footing above the water, but this comprises less than
one thousandth of one percent of the total available surface area.
Specifics
The Romulans discovered this planet long after their development of
warp technology. Only their most advanced scientific breakthroughs have
permitted them to build the structures necessary to house an oxygen
atmosphere below the surface of the ocean. The Romulan Star Empire continues
to fund a small scientific and agricultural colony here, perhaps thanks
to the pervasive respect that Romulans have for water.
