Details

Sol is the star that gave rise to the human race and, ultimately, the United Federation of Planets. It is a stable solar entity, burning on the hot end of the G class of stars. Calculations from the density and surface temperature indicate that this is a young star, with many billions of years remaining before its helium supply is exhausted.

Specifics

Sol has many satellites, including planets, comets, asteroids, and other spatial debris. With a few exceptions, everything in the Sol system orbits Sol on a common plane. This, combined with the stable nature of Sol itself makes the Sol system safe for warp and sub-light travel.

As this system is located in the center of the claimed space for the United Federation of Planets (UFP), Human and UFP-aligned alien presence is very heavy throughout. Only two of Sol's satellites, however, are truly worth mention: Earth and its moon, Luna.
