Wunyit is a tortured F-class star. Graphic representations of its magnetic field are jagged and irregular, rather than the concentric, circular pattern that one might expect from other F-class stars of this magnitude. Sunspots occur four times more frequently. Solar winds are ferocious. The elements of hydrogen and calcium are prevalent in this star.

The Wunyit system contains five planets. The innermost planet and the outer two planets are gas giants; the second planet is a barren and rocky place. Wunyit's third planet is a lush, forested M-class world.

Although this system is just under two sectors from Klingon space (compare that to six sectors to its closest neighbor, Romulan space), Wunyit and its lush planet Lootyur, have not been officially recognized as part of Klingon space. The lack of military skirmishes in this area, however, indicates that the major governments of the galaxy are content to consider this system as Klingon.
